Shona Morris
Shona trained in ballet (RAD), at Ecole Jacques Lecoq and with Trish Arnold. She is a movement teacher, movement director, actor and director.
Formerly Head of Movement at the Stratford Festival Theatre in Canada, her specialist movement skills include Pure Movement (Trish Arnold), Mask Work, Animal Study, Chorus Work, Movement Coaching for actors, Musical Staging and Period Movement.
Shona’s approach to movement is to harness the actor’s ability to imagine and transform to create believable characters through a combination of techniques and to connect this to text and the use of the breath. Her international training and experience has influenced her understanding of theatre and she encourages students to look at other cultures and physical techniques to enhance their approach to movement.
Recent professional work as a movement director includes: King Lear (Shakespeare’s Globe), Oedipus Rex (Stratford Festival Theatre), I Capture The Castle (Watford Palace).
Academic work includes a chapter on ‘The Chorus’ for Routledge and papers on mask and chorus work at Cambridge University.
