Short courses: Marcy's story
A taste of RADA
When our programme of short courses moved online in 2020 it meant that Marcy Roche, an actor from Florida, could join our expert tutors and experience RADA's world-renowned training, all from the comfort of her own home.
Marcy, who completed our Shakespeare in Action: Online short course in summer 2020, shared some thoughts on her experience with us.
Marcy Roche on her short courses experience
What made you choose RADA over other acting short courses?
I had heard wonderful feedback from a former classmate at the Lee Strasberg Institute who took part in RADA's Shakespeare Summer School course a few years ago, and I then visited RADA myself in December 2019 with my mom.
When it came to the online courses, I did some research and applied to RADA's Shakespeare in Action: Online course in 2020. I am so glad I did. It was a great online learning experience that covered everything from voice and movement, to the sonnets and Shakespearean monologues. We even got to do an online production of Hamlet, with a diverse group of talented students from all around the world. It was so much fun.
What has been your personal highlight from your short course experience?
I learned such a lot within the two weeks, and I am so grateful to RADA's faculty and my fellow students.
I still have the passion and desire to continue to learn the craft at RADA, and I'm looking forward to taking more courses. It is a tremendous and unique experience.
What advice would you give someone considering doing a RADA short course?
Do not hold back, I definitely highly recommend it. It was so worth getting up early morning from the States, for the adrenaline rush and excitement of being at RADA.
