Michael trained at RADA between 1976 and 1978. Since graduating he has been an actor for over forty years, and is a regular face on the West End stage and in TV and films.

Recent stage credits include Backstairs Billy at The Duke Of York’s Theatre, John Gabriel Borkmann at The Bridge Theatre, and The Unfriend, both at Chichester Festival Theatre and subsequently at The Criterion Theatre. He is currently rehearsing for a spell in the current revival of Guys and Dolls.

TV appearances include The Crown, This Is Going To Hurt, Ellis, Foyle War, Grantchester, Finding Alice, Father Brown, Silent Witness and Miss Scarlett & the Duke. He is also successful author and broadcaster, with his best-selling acting memoir, WHAT’S MY MOTIVATION, selected as Radio 4’s Book Of The Week. 

Throughout his career Michael has maintained a close relationship with the Academy and is delighted to join its Council.
