Professor Judith Buchanan
Judith Buchanan is Master of St Peter’s College Oxford and a Professor in the Oxford English Faculty. She is a Shakespearean with a specialism in textual and performance histories, working frequently with creative partners across arts and heritage sectors nationally and internationally. In her work on silent cinema, she brings silent films to contemporary audiences in fresh ways through ‘Silents Now’. Judith chairs the Cameron Mackintosh Drama Fund Board and the Electoral Board for the Cameron Mackintosh Visiting Professor of Contemporary Theatre, bringing actors, directors and writers of experience and distinction to Oxford to inspire the next exciting generation of theatre-makers. She was formerly at the University of York, as Professor of Film and Literature, Director of the Humanities Research Centre and Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities. She is a Pro-Vice-Chancellor of the University of Oxford and holds an Honorary Fellowship at Worcester College Oxford.
