Young Technicians: New partnership with Stratford East and Backstage Niche
The Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA) is joining forces with Theatre Royal Stratford East and Backstage Niche for their Young Technicians course offering free stage management, lighting and technical training for young people currently underrepresented in the industry.
This free 12-week introductory course for 16–21-year-olds will give students the opportunity to develop practical skills in stage management, lighting and sound with industry professionals.
The course aims to address the imbalance and underrepresentation of backstage professionals from Global Majority and lower socio-economic backgrounds, those who are care experienced, who identify as female, non-binary, trans, deaf and disabled, and those from areas with low arts engagement.
The course is facilitated by Constance Oak, a Freelance Stage Manager and Facilitator who has worked for major venues including the Royal Court, National Theatre and the Young Vic. Constance has been facilitating Stratford East's Young Technicians course since 2021.
