Diane worked in theatre from an early age but went on to train in Fashion at Southgate and London College of Fashion, eventually turning back to theatre as her chosen career.

She worked freelance in theatre and film as both costume maker and supervisor, working for such places as the Royal Opera House, the National Theatre, Watford Palace Theatre and Danze Fantasy.

Diane joined RADA as Deputy Head of Wardrobe in 1995 and helped create a postgraduate course in Costume Making and Supervising in 1997. She became Head of Department in 2001 and re-created this course to become a 2-year Postgraduate Diploma.

The costume department supports many courses at RADA and Diane teaches on RADA’s Foundation Degree in Technical Theatre and Stage Management and Postgraduate Diploma in Theatre Costume, NYU’s courses at RADA, and at Central St Martin’s. Her specialisms include all aspects of costume making, hair styling, chain mail, leather work, gloves, silversmithing and glass sculpting.
