Meet our graduates: Sam Liu
BA (Hons) in Acting, 2021
I came to RADA after having already done a degree at Uni meaning I wasn’t eligible for any loans or maintenance grants. On paper, doing three more years of education was bonkers and impossible but I knew there was simply nothing I loved more than acting and the theatre, and that I would regret it forever if I didn’t take the plunge.
I knew when I made that choice that I could never do it alone, that this would only work out if there were people out there willing and able to help me. Thankfully, there were. Because of RADA’s support, I studied BA (Hons) in Acting on a full scholarship – I’ve not had to worry about fees once.
Without RADA’s help, my training wouldn’t have been feasible, and I think it’s fair to say that the training was the most demanding, invigorating and rewarding experience of my life so far. RADA allowed me to grow as an actor and a person in ways I had never appreciated; it fundamentally shifted my understanding of the craft of acting; it enlivened my body, expanded my imagination, and gave me some of the best times and closest of friends.
There’s nothing I want more than to continue working in the realm of the imagination, storytelling and human connection – and my time at RADA stood me in great stead for just that. RADA made this shy kid’s dream come true.
