Playing The Victim by the Presnyakov Brothers, translated by Sasha Dugdale
17 March, 7.15pm, Post Show Q&A
21 March, 7.15pm, Captioned Performance
Actually, I use chopsticks so I don’t have to do the washing up. They do it all whilst I’m still eating. No one’s got the patience to see the dirty dishes and me still chewing calmly. Chopsticks are really annoying to eat with – even when you get good at it.
Valya spends his time avoiding anything unpleasant. His parents cannot understand their son - is he fearful of life or just lazy? But when Valya drops out of university, he has a plan. He gets a job playing the victim in police murder reconstructions. Maybe by getting close to death he can avoid his own.
This is an amateur production by arrangement with Nick Hern Books.
