"I know myself! The only stories that end happily are the ones that don't have me in them."
Schoolteacher, Platonov, has a good life. He is witty, intelligent, respected in his community and has a beautiful and loving wife. He does his best to be a faithful husband, but he is not a perfect man and is tempted by the attentions of other women who seem to find him irresistible.
During a hot summer in provincial Russia, a series of misunderstandings, unwise liaisons and a considerable amount of vodka cause havoc and chaos in this hilarious and poignant adaptation of Anton Chekhov's most youthful play, Platonov, by Michael Frayn.
